Answers to Common Questions:
What is your style?
We are storytellers, and to do this we unobtrusively immerse ourselves into your wedding day to capture beautiful candid moments as they happen. By the end of every single wedding we shoot, we feel like we are family. We cry and we laugh right along with you. In order to truly tell your story, we need to know who you are. We also love West Texas and the landscape, so including that into our work is a big part of what we do. We will do whatever we have to do to get that perfect shot. We will get dirty, climb walls, get right on the dance floor with you, or kneel down in a pile of stickers if we have to. When it comes to portraits we will give direction and pose you in ways that don't look to posey or contrived. Capturing who you are is of the most important thing to us. We honestly love what we do and are always so honored that someone will give us the opportunity to share such an important day with them. It means the world to us, we love every single couple we have ever photographed and remember them all!
When will we get our images?
We will send you a few sneak peaks usually within a few days after the wedding. We always get super excited to peak at the photos right after a wedding and send over a few shots that will Wow you! Our work extends far after the actual wedding day though. It usually takes anywhere from 8 to 16 weeks to edit all the images and create your online gallery. Once the images are edited, we will send you a link to an online gallery that contains the resized images for web use. You will be able to download and share those images. The high resolution images will be sent to you on a custom USB drive.
How many images will we receive?
I never guarantee a certain amount of images. Every event is different. I believe in quantity vs quality. I will sort through every single image, pull the best shots, and edit every one of those images. Depending on the nature of the wedding and the amount of hours we covered, clients can receive anywhere from 200 to 500 images.
Are you insured? Yes!
How do we book you?
We are more then happy to set up a time to chat over the phone or via Skype to make sure we are a perfect fit for you. If you happen to be in Marfa, we would love to meet you in person in our studio. Just visit our contact page and send us a note!
Do you require a deposit? We do require you to sign a contract and there is a $1000 non refundable retainer to book your wedding with us.
What happens if you can't make our wedding?
Please know that we haven't missed a single wedding yet. However, things happen sometimes beyond our control. I can tell you that they only way we would not make a wedding is due to a serious natural disaster or unfortunate accident. You of course would be refunded all monies paid, we would do everything we could to find you a photographer, and would beg for your forgiveness for eternity.
What kind of equipment do you use?
We shoot with several professional cameras and several different lenses throughout the day. We basically have two of everything and are completely prepared for any kind of situation.
How do you light your photos?
For most of the day we shoot in natural light. We feel that setting up a lot of fancy lighting equipment will take time away from the moments and be to distracting from what is actually happening. We don't want to miss an important moment because we are messing around with too much equipment. We don't stage things, we like to let them happen naturally. The only time we set up shots and might use lighting equipment is for your portraits and family group photos. During the reception we will use some on and off camera flash to catch the dancing action.
Do you travel outside of Marfa?
YES! We love to travel! Travel is included for all weddings in the Big Bend area, including El Paso, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. We will get ourselves there, all we ask is that you provide us with accommodations for two nights as we like to arrive the day before your wedding. We are not fancy. A room fairly close to your venue with a bed and and a shower is all that we need.
